I sell on this amazing handmade-only site called Etsy.com

I will be posting treasuries once a week that I've been featured in created by other sellers-- Thank you!

Here's one that recently made it to the front page/home page of etsy.com originally created by SharonClancyDesigns. My piece will be marked by a tiny red star.

Occoquan Events

Ok everyone, as most of you know, I have a little studio in Occoquan, VA called Kelly's Artbox.

Well, not to spread the news yet, but BIG and exciting things will be happening in the next couple months! I will be collaborating with Lisa Julia Photography (a children's photographer in Nothern Virginia http://www.lisajuliaphotography.com) and it should be great.

I'll keep you posted as details arise.

The things I do for fun

What does a commissionable artist do for fun? More art. I will be doing some celebrity paintings of some of my favorite tv stars so that my potential clients can relate when they see them.
So I decided to finally paint something for myself and have a little fun. Here's HOUSE.

Hugh Laurie who plays Greg House on Fox. Enjoy!

My First Wholesale Order!

Even though I have my jewelry for sale in my studio, Kelly's Artbox, in Occoquan, I also sell online at etsy internationally.
I just sold my first wholesale order of a mix of my (upcycled) guitar string rings to this awesome studio/store in California. Here is a link to their website http://www.jenniferpricestudio.com/

I think they'll go very well in here modern, yet vintage styled store!

Watercolor: In Love with Gouache

"What's 'gouache'?" You may be asking. Well gouache is a type of watercolor. I love it because I think it has the best of both worlds with typical watercolor, and acrylic (also another form of watercolor), in that gouache is still workable after it dries like watercolor, but has a white pigment like acrylic and can be very opaque.

In this recent painting of mine from my original photo, I decided to take more of a translucent approach, but used the white pigment in parts of the nest. The only dowfall to the white is that it can "muddy up" easily, so I reccommend still trying to use the white of the paper as your true white in the piece.
You can buy this piece and other gouache pieces of mine online or at my studio Kelly's Artbox in Occoquan, VA.

Pendant Crazy!

So with the suggestion from my good friend Lisa (http://www.lisajuliaphotography.com/) I decided to try making these pendants using my photos and artwork. I really like how they turned out, and you can purchase one for $10. I may be writing a new blog about how to make them, since I couldn't find that anywhere when I was trying to figure it out. However, you can purchase your own little kit to make 6 pendants here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_list_3&listing_id=13878441
